Big Work: How Montessori Children Become Lifelong Learners – Parent Education Event

We hope you can join us on Tuesday, October 23, 6:30-8:00pm, at the Vermont Street Campus.  All Vermont Street primary guides along with our Elementary guide and assistant will share an evening of Montessori curriculum for the different ages and stages.  Come learn about the big work your children are doing to become lifelong learners!  Learn what the next step is for your primary aged child in our Montessori Elementary.  Come spend an evening with our community learning more about the magic of Montessori!  Stay in one environment for the entire evening or float between the classrooms to learn more about what Montessori will offer your child throughout their primary and lower-elementary years.

Lydia and Teresa will be presenting materials from the Montessori curriculum that the 3 and 4 year olds typically work with. They will be showing activities from each area of the curriculum and describing the developmental significance. This is a unique opportunity to demystify the manipulatives that help lay the foundation for successful experiences in the classroom.

Allison, Jessica and Paulina will be presenting Montessori materials for the 5 and 6 year olds. Come and find out what your older children are up to in the Primary classroom!  Find out what activities your child is doing in the Practical Life and Sensorial areas of the classroom and why these areas are still so important to their development.  What skills are they working on in the Math and Language? Learn about their role as an older student and how it shapes our classroom community. We will also be discussing the importance of the third year in the primary classroom and extended day versus a traditional Kindergarten program.

Samantha and Mary will share with you the exciting Elementary work that your child’s primary years have precisely prepared them for.  Come and learn about our Elementary community through our very favorite lessons! Children submitted suggestions, and we have whittled the list down to 10 of the best elementary Montessori lessons, according to popular opinion. You will get a taste of all different subjects and really get a feel for what we do in our classroom through these presentations. Current elementary parents and prospective families are both welcome!

Childcare for currently enrolled children ages 3-9 will be available.  The cost is $6 for one child and $9 for two children.
