Anne Blickenstaff, Head of School
Anne was born in Hanover, New Hampshire and her family moved to Oregon when she was six. Born into a family of educational pioneers (her grandmother and mother founded the West Hills Learning Center and West Hills Montessori, respectively), Anne joined the West Hills staff as a Spanish specialist and After Care support staff member when she was still in high school. After earning her BA in Marketing and Finance from the University of Oregon, she attended the Montessori Institute Northwest and received her AMI Primary teaching certification in 1983. After guiding a Montessori Primary class at Vermont Street for many years, in 2000 Anne left the classroom to take the role of Administrator. Anne has made it her life’s work to continue her family’s legacy of educational leadership, vision and community.
Anne lives in Lake Oswego with her husband Todd, their daughter Katie (a West Hills graduate!) and their dog, Kenzie. In her free time she enjoys family time at the Oregon Coast, reading and cooking.
Delila Olsson, Assistant Head of School
A native Oregonian, Delila grew up in Eugene and fell in love with Montessori while working part time as a classroom assistant to help pay for college. That experience changed the course of her career; she went on to earn an AMI Primary teaching credential from the Montessori Institute Northwest in 1988 and a BA in Human Studies from Marylhurst University. Delila spent ten years guiding Montessori classes in Dallas, Houston, and Portland. After taking a few years away to focus on raising her son, she joined the West Hills community in 2004 to help with the opening of our Lake Oswego campus. Her experience as a classroom guide and mentor, parent educator, and trainer for West Hills’ staff prepared Delila for her current role as Assistant Head of School. In this role, she oversees program development initiatives, including outreach to new families, support of current families and staff, and oversight of the school’s online, marketing and social media presence.
When she’s not at West Hills, Delila spends a lot of time engaged in her other passion, writing. She also loves spending time with her son, Elliott, connecting with friends, collage-making, gardening, and hiking in the beautiful forests of the Pacific Northwest. She lives in a cottage in Lake Oswego with two cats, Allegro and Staccato.
Brooke Klouda, Office Director (Vermont Street)
Brooke was born and raised in Mesa Arizona, where she began her Montessori journey as a child. In college Brooke majored in Political Science and gained valuable administrative experience working in a law firm and managing annual giving and capital campaign departments at her alma mater. Later shifting her focus to education, Brooke went on to earn an AMI teaching credential from the Montessori Institute Northwest. Her Montessori knowledge and experience together with her administrative background, including a previous administrative position at our Lake Oswego campus, make Brooke uniquely qualified to manage our Vermont Street campus office.
Brooke lives in West Linn with her husband Peter and son (and West Hills student), Caden. They enjoy skiing, golfing, and traveling together as a family. In her free time, Brooke enjoys working out and reading.
Fallie Calder, Office Director (Lake Oswego)
Fallie grew up on a wheat farm in LaGrande, Oregon, and earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Oregon. She later worked in Washington D.C. for the US senate banking Committee and Housing and Urban Development subcommittee, which focused on inner city youth and education programs.
A proud mother of three West Hills graduates who she describes as “accomplished students and wonderful human beings,” Fallie’s enthusiasm about Montessori and West Hills eventually led to her position as Office Director at our Lake Oswego, where she has been for the past six years. Ever committed to the belief that education should encompass far more than teaching academics, Fallie loves being part of an approach that “gives children the tools to be lifelong learners.”
Fallie lives in Portland with her husband, Bill, and their 3 children. As a family, they love skiing and camping and, in her free time Fallie enjoys supporting her kids in their music and sporting events, knitting, beading and anything outdoors!
A native of the Pacific Northwest, Alan joined the staff at West Hills in 2002, as a summer swim instructor at the pool. Having previously worked in another Montessori program, his passion for working with children led him to the Montessori Institute NW, where he earned an AMI Primary teaching credential in 2003. He also holds a BA in Sociology from Principia and a Masters Degree in Education from Loyola University. Over the years, Alan has worn a number of different hats at West Hills, including Assisting in the Elementary classroom, supervising the Before and After Care Programs, and assisting Teresa in Primary. He is currently an Administrative Assistant at both Lake Oswego and Vermont Street campuses.
Alan resides in Tualatin with his wife, Tanya, their two beautiful sons, Kyle and Connor, and their Cockapoo, Tonka. In their free time, Alan and his family enjoy trips to the Zoo and children’s museum, time together with family and friends, and going to the Oregon Coast. On his own, Alan loves woodworking, movies, and the Blazers!
